Day 23: A Taste of Tonawanda

Saturday morning weigh-in: 150.2

(Same as it ever was. At least for a day.)

I had planned on going downtown for the Taste of Buffalo, but got bogged down in the living room remodeling project. By the end of tomorrow the deconstruction should be done, and maybe on Monday we'll see something new going up. Until then, there's today's gastronomicalities

grits & 2 soft-boiled eggs, churned together
(in a handled bowl which was a lovely parting gift when Keyser Buick closed)
coffee, Folger's Gourmet Caramel Drizzle (1 cup)
coffee, Clover Valley Donut Shop Blend (1 cup)

and then we were off to the living room, where I was ably-assisted by my favorite son, Andy.

Later, broke for an unconventional lunch which started with

M&Ms (1 14 oz. bag)
which wasn't, by the way, the winner in their $100,000 giveaway
red plum (1)
Tops Fruit-on-the-Bottom yogurt, strawberry (8 oz.)
water (2, 12 oz. each)

then it was back, again, to the living room, where we found a copy of The Times of Buffalo under the hardwood floor. It was dated Wednesday Evening, April 19, 1939 and I spent some time looking at the stories and the ads — while the picture page featured photos captioned: Nazi Fleet Speeds Toward Spain and Morocco in "Play War". Little did they know...

Dinnertime already? Let's do take-out.

yeah, it happens from time-to-time
cold-cut sub from Subway
     (yeah, I know)
Stella D'oro Margherite chocolate cookie
     (1 — really, only 1)
Genny Light (2, 12 oz. each)
Lays Dill Pickle potato chips
     (enough)

and later...

strawberries (8 plump juicy little guys from Aldi)

Hopefully when I head off to bed I won't be dreaming of Nazi warships outside of my living room window.
